Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2025
Overview
Element to LLM is a browser extension that captures DOM elements for AI-assisted debugging. We respect your privacy and are committed to transparency about what data we collect.
Key points:
- All DOM capture processing happens locally in your browser
- Captured data is copied to your clipboard only — never sent to us
- Optional anonymous usage statistics require your explicit consent
- No personal information is ever collected
What We Don't Collect
- Page content or captured DOM data
- URLs you visit or browsing history
- Personal information (name, email, accounts)
- IP addresses
- Browser fingerprints
- Cookies or tracking identifiers
Optional Usage Statistics
With your explicit opt-in consent, we collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the extension:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Random installation ID | Distinguish unique users for aggregate counts (DAU/MAU) |
| Daily capture count | Understand usage frequency |
| Format preference (v1 vs v2) | Guide feature development |
| Capture type (element vs full page) | Understand usage patterns |
| Extension version | Track adoption of updates |
What this means in practice
- Installation ID: A random UUID generated when you install the extension. It cannot be linked to your identity, browser, or device. It simply lets us count "100 people used the extension today" rather than "someone used it 100 times."
- Daily aggregates: We receive one data point per day containing counts, not individual actions. We don't know what you captured or when during the day.
- No IP logging: Our server does not log IP addresses.
How Statistics Are Collected
- When you first install the extension, you'll see a consent prompt
- If you opt in, anonymous counts are stored locally
- Once per day, aggregated counts are sent to our server
- Local counts reset after transmission
If you decline, no data is ever collected or transmitted.
Data Retention
- Anonymous usage statistics are retained for 24 months for trend analysis
- No personal data is collected, so there is nothing to delete
- Uninstalling the extension removes all local data (installation ID, preferences, statistics)
Your Choices
Opt out: Decline the consent prompt on first install. No statistics will be collected.
Change your mind: Reinstall the extension to see the consent prompt again.
Third Parties
We do not share any data with third parties. Usage statistics are processed solely by the E2LLM Development Team for product improvement.
Children's Privacy
This extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
